27th Busan International Film Festival accepting applications

The 27th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), scheduled to run from October 5 (Wednesday) to October 14 (Friday), 2022, is now accepting entries.

– Applications are open until June 22 (Wednesday) 6:00 p.m. KST for short films and until July 20 (Wednesday) 6:00 p.m. KST for feature films

With effective preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic last year, BIFF has received high praise from audiences and filmmakers, and the 27th BIFF is now accepting submissions from March 30 (Wednesday).

Fiction, documentary and animation films, which have been in production since October 2021, are eligible to submit. All submissions are subject to the eligibility criteria defined in 2 categories; short film up to 60 minutes and feature film 60 minutes or more.
Online applications are available on the official festival website (www.biff.kr/eng/). The submission deadline for short films is June 22 (Wednesday) 6:00 p.m. KST and the deadline for feature films is July 20 (Wednesday) 6:00 p.m. KST.

Launched in 1996, the Busan International Film Festival actively works to support the growth and globalization of Korean and Asian cinema. He discovered various films that show great achievements in major film festivals around the world.

The Apartment with Two Women (2021) directed by Kim Se-in, which received 5 awards including the New Currents Award at the last edition of the BIFF, was officially selected for the Berlinale Panorama 2022; Memoryland (2021) directed by Kim Quy Bui, another selection from New Currents, was invited to the Berlinale Forum 2022; Hot in Day, Cold at Night (2021) directed by Park Songyeol, official selection of Korea Cinema Today – Vision, also went to the Berlinale Forum.

Three (2020) directed by Ruslan Pak which won the New Currents Award at the 25th BIFF, Moving On (2019) directed by Yoon Danbi and House of Hummingbird (2018) directed by Kim Bora are the notable achievements started with BIFF. They have distinguished themselves at prestigious festivals around the world.

Over the past 26 years, BIFF has discovered and introduced emerging films to global audiences. This year, the BIFF is preparing for its 27th edition to fulfill its role of discovering beautiful works that connect film and audiences.
BIFF will operate a safe festival that prioritizes the health and safety of audiences and filmmakers.

The official selections will be screened at the 27th Busan International Film Festival, which will be held from October 5 (Wednesday) to October 14 (Friday), 2022.
