8th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA): The President of Senegal, His Excellency Macky Sall, welcomes the President of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), pledges to support the “Teranga” edition

Ahead of the highly anticipated 8th edition of the All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) (www.AFRIMA.org) entitled “Teranga Edition” to be held in Dakar, Senegal, from January 12 to 15, 2023, the President of the Republic of Senegal, His Excellency, President Macky Sall, received this weekend, at his official residence in Dakar, the Executive Producer/President of AFRIMA, Mr. Mike Dada, assuring him of the unwavering support of the Government of the Republic of Senegal for the successful hosting of AFRIMA in Senegal.

President Sall met with the President of AFRIMA, after a global press conference/unveiling ceremony, held at the King Fahd Royal Palace Hotel, Dakar, on November 4, 2022 where Senegal was announced as the official host country by the African Union Commission and the AFRIMA International Committee.

According to President Macky Sall, who is also the 2022 Chairperson of the African Union (AU) “The present and the future of Africa, especially Senegal in this case, is very important for our government and young people represent this future. AFRIMA talks about youth empowerment and engagement in the creative economy as well as the celebration of our continent and the global promotion of our cities for tourism benefits, hence the support and partnership of the Republic from Senegal. I am very happy and honored to host the Teranga edition of Africa’s biggest music award, AFRIMA right here in Senegal, the Senegalese people are excited about this historic feat, given that this is the first time that the awards will take place in a French-speaking country”

He assured the AFRIMA team and the rest of the world of first class hospitality rights and the support of the Senegalese government and its people, to ensure that the 8th AFRIMA will be an impactful, successful and commendable affair for visitors and the Senegalese people.

For his part, the President and Executive Producer of AFRIMA, Mr. Dada thanked His Excellency, President Macky Sall, the government and people of the Republic of Senegal for undertaking to partner and host the 8th AFRIMA for the benefit of the music industry in Africa in general and the creative economy in Senegal in particular. He pledged on behalf of the AFRIMA International Committee to ensure that the Teranga edition will go down in history as the best and greatest edition of AFRIMA to date.

As the world gears up for the 8th edition of the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, to be held from January 12-15, 2023, African music lovers are encouraged to continue to vote intensively for the desired winners, using the voting portal live at www.AFRIMA.org and participate in events on social media platforms (IG/TikTok – https://bit.ly/3AjSojU; Facebook – https://bit.ly/3TH2y4T; Twitter – https:/ /bit.ly/3X5UvBG; LinkedIn – AFRIMA). The voting process that determines the winners at AFRIMA is audited by a world renowned auditing firm, Pricewaterhousecoopers (PWC).

The event is scheduled to start on Thursday, January 12, 2023, with a visit to the host country, a courtesy visit to the president of the host country, a school visit and a presentation of gifts (as part of AFRIMA’s corporate social responsibility) , as well as a welcome party will take place the same day at the Hotel Terroui-Bi, Dakar. The 4-day event continues on Friday, January 13, 2023, with the Africa Music Business Summit at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD) and the AFRIMA Urban Music Fest at the Grand Théâtre; while main rehearsals, media engagements and the exclusive nominees party will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2023; the event will culminate on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the 15,000 capacity Dakar Arena with the awards ceremony live broadcast by 104 TV channels in over 84 countries around the world.
