The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most anticipated and prestigious film events. The festival will see several prominent celebrities and artists from around the world. And this year India’s brightest stars including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pooja Hegde, AR Rahman and others will represent the country and are all ready to hit the red carpet. The Indian delegation is led by I&B Minister Anurag Thakur as they attend the event to represent the country.
A few moments ago, music maestro AR Rahman spoke with news agency ANI and said that it was a great honor to be part of such an important event. “It’s a great honor to be here. I also have my directorial debut which is premiering at Cannes XR,” he said.
CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi says it will be a big festival
Prasoon Joshi present at the festival also said: “India has always come to Cannes. There are two parts to Cannes, one is the market and the other is where the films are shown, both are very important to us. It is a special year because India is the country of honour”.
He added that the government and all the filmmakers together have taken this very seriously and are looking forward to having very fruitful discussions at the industry level and at the partnership level between the different bodies.
“The next era can belong to India, especially in terms of global ideas coming out of India. It will be a big festival for us and we are all looking forward to it,” added Prasoon Joshi.
Note that India has been designated as the official “country of honor” at the next Film Market.
