CLEVELAND (WJW) — The first day of spring was March 20. With warmer weather forecast, it’s time to get out and explore northeast Ohio.
Here are some of the events taking place in northeast Ohio this spring:
Cinderella by Rogers and Hammerstein
The musical plays at the Near West Theater from March 25 to April 10. Tickets are $15.
A lot of noise for nothing
The Great Lakes Theater Company presents shows of Shakespeare’s Wit and Romance March 25-April 10 at the Hanna Theatre.
Spring Fling Craft and Vendor Show
This craft show takes place at Lorain Community College on March 26th. Free entry.
Cleveland International Film Festival
This year’s festival takes place at the organization’s new home in Playhouse Square with films screened in six cinemas from March 30 to April 9.
Cleveland Tattoo Arts Convention
The event at Cleveland’s Huntington Convention Center runs from April 1 through April 3 and features more than 300 performers.
The Mac and Cheese Challenge
Cleveland restaurants and food trucks with their best macaroni and cheese deals at the Madison on April 9. This benefits WAGS 4 Kids.
Mac and Cheese Walk
Stroll through downtown Willoughby on April 9 and sample macaroni and cheese at 10 locations.
Strongsville Spring Arts and Crafts Show
The annual show features local artists and artisans at the Strongsville Ehrnfelt Recreation Center on April 9-10.
Towpath Half Marathon
The half marathon and 5-mile races begin at Cleveland Metroparks Ohio and Erie Canal Reserve on April 10. This is the first of three Towpath races.
Akron Rubber Ducks first home game
The Ducks kick off their 2022 season at home on April 12 against Reading.
Cleveland Guardians home opener
The MLB lockout pushed back the home opener from March 31 to April 15. The Guardians will host San Francisco.
Dyngus Day
The 12th annual Dyngus Day in Cleveland is April 18. Shop around Gordon Square for pierogi, polka and other Polish dishes.
Gone for the Planet
The Akron Zoo celebrates Earth Day on April 23 with crafts and demonstrations.

Geauga County Maple Festival
Carré Chardon transforms into a tribute to maple syrup from April 21-24 with food, games, rides, music, contests and a craft show.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater
The legendary New York dance company performs April 22 and 24 at the State Theater on Playhouse Square.
Medina Beer Festival
Main Street Medina and the Foundry Social are teaming up for an evening of craft beer, food and fun on April 23.
Cleveland Animal Pub Crawl
The April 23 pub crawl benefits the Cleveland Animal Protective League. Shop around for bars with animal-themed names. There are drink specials and shuttles.
Kill a mockingbird
Part of the KeyBank Broadway series, this show runs from April 26 to May 15 at Connor Palace.
Wayne County Cupcake Tour
Seven stores and seven cupcakes on this self-guided tour that begins at Lehman’s Hardware. It costs $15 and takes place on April 29 and 30.
Fan Expo Cleveland
The worlds of comics, anime, gaming and more come together at the Huntington Convention Center from April 20 through May 1.
Tequila Te Amo
Taste over 30 tequilas, a full bar, a taco and nacho bar, and live entertainment. Tickets start at $65 for this May 6 event.
Color Vibe 5K
A burst of color along a 5K run through Akron’s Lock 3 on May 7.
Charlie and the chocolate factory
May 10 and 10 at EJ Thomas Hall as part of the Broadway in Akron series at Playhouse Square.
Chocolate Tour in Amish Country
Shop seven stops and sample treats from the Coblentz Chocolate Company at this event on May 13. Tickets are $25.
Spring show
The Akron Zoo’s first family fundraiser will take place on May 20.
Cleveland International Tattoo
The Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society honors fallen heroes at Cleveland Public Hall on May 21.
Cleveland Asian Festival
The festival returns to an in-person event in the AsiaTown neighborhood of Cleveland on May 21-22. It features live music, performances, food and a fashion show.

Cleveland Marathon
The full, half, 10K and 5K on a course that stretches to the west side of Cleveland on May 21-22.

Kent Craft Beer Festival
You can sample craft beer samples, many from local breweries. There is music and food trucks. It’s May 21.
Waitress
Sara Bareilles’ Broadway musical arrives at the Hanna Theater in Playhouse Square from May 26 to June 26.
Berea National Beer and Ribs Day
The Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds is hosting this event May 27-30. Enjoy ribs and live music, and see the classic Corvettes on display.
Pride of the CLE
The LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland hosts Pride in the CLE on June 4 at Malls B and C in downtown Cleveland.
Slavic village Pierogi Dash
The 5k run/walk and the 1 mile walk will take place on June 5th. After the race, sample pierogi, smokies and craft beer, along with live polka music.
Rib ‘N Rock
The 30th annual Parma Rib Food and Music Festival runs June 9-12.
Cleveland June 19 Freedom Festival
Karamu House, the Downtown Cleveland Alliance and Ingenuity Cleveland are teaming up for the city’s second June 18th celebration on June 18 at the C Mall in downtown Cleveland.
Cleveland Yoga Festival
All-day yoga class at Edgewater Park on June 18. There are also vendors, food and music.
