CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The 8th annual Czech and Country Music Festival kicked off Saturday at Moravian Hall.
The event was organized by the Czech Heritage Society of South Texas for community members to learn about Czechoslovakian culture through music, food and fun!
Sam Morris, board member of the Czech Heritage Society of South Texas, told 3NEWS: “If they don’t know how to polka, they can learn how to do it. I’ve never tasted or tasted a kolache before. , they’re going to taste it.”
As the name suggests, it was a fusion of country and Czech cultures, so attendees were able to experience something new while having the comfort of familiarity.
Traditional Czech plates and kolaches were served alongside the barbecue, while guests were encouraged to dance in all styles.
The theme of the event was to carry on the legacies and traditions here in Coastal Bend while adding Texas and country to the mix.
The Czech Heritage Society organizes this event every year, so be sure to catch the next one for a great time with lots of fun for all!
