The 27th annual Día de los Muertos festival, honoring Day of the Dead traditions, was held along International Boulevard in the Fruitvale neighborhood. The celebration included traditional dancers, artwork, live music, altar displays and more.
The free festival drew people from across the Bay Area, with the website claiming more than 100,000 people have attended in recent years.
Dia de los Muertos – also known as Day of the Dead – is a Latin American celebration of deceased ancestors or loved ones. Altars are built in tribute to the deceased, often decorated with photos, gifts, flowers, food and drink.
