Shy girl released their new album Nymph and you can see her at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on Friday, March 24, 2023, as well as other tour dates around the world. On this one, the South London artist offers an eclectic glimpse into the intimate depths of his musical mind, saturating it all in the intoxicating sensuality that has characterized his soundscapes since the debut single and music video.

But the album is as much an introspection as an outpouring of vocal identity. And Shygirl – almost an oxymoron at this point – enthusiastically invites you in (if you can handle it). The first two tracks on the album — the quivering self-reflector “Misfortune” and shivering call-and-response “Come For Me” – reveal Shygirl’s tendency towards experimentation. Settle into cavernous electronica as easily as she does when she drops fiery bars amid concussive rhythm tracks crafted by a longtime producer Sega Bodega.

While pieces like “Shlut” and “Firefly” represent the fluctuations of style and genre that make up Shygirl’s sonic palette. From galloping percussive beats to retro R&B layers and instrumental medleys – the entirety of Nymph is built on the amazingly woven intricacies of his music.

There’s the raw rush of bitter sweetness that fills the breakup ballad “Heaven” and its oxidizing counterpart “I miss you.” While the heavily Eurodance-inspired club bumper “Poison” and the vibrant energies of “Fires” serve as a reminder that no matter the tempo, Shygirl is always powerfully in control.
