Iranian and Ukrainian filmmakers will be presented at the Tallinn co-production market | New

The Baltic Event Co-Production Market has defined the 13 projects that will take part in next month’s event, which runs from November 23-24, including two co-productions with Iran that address issues of violence against women .

blue girl is an Iranian-Luxembourgish co-production written and directed by Iranian filmmaker Mahmoud Ghaffari, and produced by Elaheh Nobakht and Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu.

Buran is an Iranian-Swedish co-production, directed by Iranian filmmakers Maryam Moghaddam and Behtash Sanaeehd, and produced by Swedish producer Peter Krupenin, who last year was part of the team behind you can dancewinner of International Screenprize for the best pitch in the co-production market.

The Baltic Event Co-Production Market is part of the industry platform of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia (November 11-27). Marge Liiske returns to lead [email protected] & Baltic Event.

Other projects include two that highlight Ukraine. Cherry blossoms is directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Marysia Nikitiuk. The feature won one of the top prizes from the Sarajevo Film Festival’s CineLink Industry Platform, winning the Eurimages Special Prize for Co-Production Development of €20,000. It centers on a man and a girl who flee Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories and meet a Bosnian woman who survived the Balkan Wars as a child. Igor Savychenko produces.

Ukrainian sports drama blind vision is Ruslan Batytskyi’s feature debut, and produced by Olha Beskhmelnitsyna and Natalia Libet.

From the host country, Estonia, comes Veiko Õunpuu Serafima & Bogdan, adapted from a novel of the same name by Vahur Afanasjev.

The jury is made up of Katarina Tomkova, Slovak producer of Kaleidoskop; Margrit Stärk, feature film director at ZDF Studios, Germany; and Sibila Diaz-Plaja, Head of Development at MUBI, UK.

The prizes are the prize for the best project of €10,000; best pitch, with the winner receiving coverage throughout the film’s lifecycle awarded by Screen; and the Producers Network Award for Promising Young Producers, two free passes to the Producers Network 2023 awarded by the Cannes Film Market.
