ROCHESTER, NY – The 26th Rochester Summer Soul Music Fest returns to Frontier Field in August.
Officials were at Rochester City Hall downtown on Monday to announce some of the entertainment for this year’s festival, which kicks off Friday, August 26 and continues through Saturday, August 27.
Saturday’s headliner will be multi-Grammy award-winning platinum artist Babyface.
The American singer and songwriter is best known for his hit “Every Time I Close My Eyes”.
A Maryland-based company, Xperience Live Events, LLC, is hosting the festival. The company was founded by Varick Baiyina, a native of Rochester.
“As a native son of Rochester, I am honored to continue such a proud tradition in my hometown,” Baiyina said in a statement. “Since 1995, the City of Rochester has produced its Rochester Music Festival legacy as a family concert experience designed to provide authentic community engagement. Building on this legacy, 2022 will be even more memorable and generate even more regional excitement.
“The Rochester Summer Soul Music Fest is one of the premier soul and R&B music festivals in the Northeast and the perfect conclusion to the season of events here in Rochester,” Mayor Malik Evans said in a statement. “Varick Baiyina and his team at Xperience Live Events put on another fantastic weekend with features the whole family can enjoy. This year, the Summer Soul Music Fest will be an event not to be missed.
