Maali by Pragya Kapoor will represent Indian cinema at the Queens World Film Festival

Actress-turned-producer Pragya Kapoor is on her way to success. His new concept film Maali represents India at the Queens World Film Festival. The film is to be screened on November 4 in New York.

Maali is the journey of a 16-year-old girl, Tulsi, from the quiet mountains to the concrete jungle and her struggle when witnessing city life; greed, loneliness and depression.

“The film is a cross between a cautionary tale and an account of our own realities. I am extremely happy to have made the decision to produce Maali. I am also eternally grateful for all the love he receives and I am proud that such good things are happening for him,” Pragya said when asked how it was to have Maali representing Indian cinema at an international film festival.

“I am overwhelmed to see Maali receiving such warmth and appreciation from around the world. Also to be nominated in two categories on a global platform such as Queens is heartening,” added Shiv.

Written by Shiv C Shetty and Sonali Rana and directed by Shiv C Shetty, Maali got its world premiere at the Melbourne Indian Film Festival.

The film is the only Indian feature out of 157 films from 27 countries participating in the 12 edition of the Queens World Film Festival.
