New York’s Winter Lantern Festival is coming to Long Island this year


The NYC Winter Lantern Festival, a lively Chinese-inspired holiday light show, will dazzle families at two slots on Long Island this fall and winter.

Starting Oct. 21, the bright and colorful lantern installations will return to the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn, which will provide a drive-thru experience for patrons. And from November 8, the arts event will make its debut at the Smithtown Historical Society as the Suffolk Winter Lantern Festival.

New York Winter Lantern Festival Details

The “Nassau Drive-Thru Adventure” – located at One Museum Dr. in Roslyn – will run from October 21, 2022 to January 15, 2023. The outer space-inspired, drive-thru-only spectacle will have visitors driving between planets , rockets, astronauts, and more.

It will be open Thursday through Sunday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. From 23 Dec. 2022 to Jan. 1, 2023, hours will be daily from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost is $50 plus tax per vehicle.

New this year, the “Suffolk Winter Lantern Festival” – located at 239 E. Main St. in Smithtown – will run from November 4, 2022 to January 8, 2023. It will transform Smithtown into a magical light show complete with flowers, animals, and Moreover.
