Power of Sour: Wild Ale & Fermented Food Festival scheduled for November in Cleveland


Cleveland, Ohio- Beer Co platform. is set to host Power of Sour: Wild Ale & Fermented Food Festival on Saturday November 5th.

The festival, which is free, will feature fermented foods and drinks. It will run from noon to 8 p.m. at Phunkenship, Platform’s dedicated sour production and taphouse.

Speakers (speaking times will be announced next week):

Darren Crossowner of Cleveland Brewerywill showcase different forms of home fermentation – brewing, pickling, cheese making, winemaking and more.

Jeremy Umanskyco-head / owner of Cellar, the delicatessen and bakery in Cleveland’s Hingetown neighborhood. He will discuss the fermentation of Koji. Umansky co-author “Koji Alchemy.”

• Phunkenship main brewer and mixer Caleb Brown. Blending is an integral part of sour ale production.

Michael KillickOwner of Killik Hot Sauce Co., and veteran, father, stroke and heart attack survivor. The sauce – vegan, gluten-free and preservative-free – uses all-natural ingredients.

Happy Pickler founder Betsy Warner. The company produces traditional, lacto-fermented and probiotic foods.

Jaime Simpsonchief liaison officer at The Culinary Plant Institute in Milan, Ohio.

Customers can sample products from local businesses. indie rock band window dogs are scheduled to play from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Phunkenship, which opened in 2019, is located at 3135 Sackett Ave., Cleveland.
