Registration for the International Orthodox Christian Film Festival Byzanfest closes August 1

Registrations for the International Orthodox Christian Film Festival Byzanfest close August 1, 2022.

The organizers are planning a return to cinemas after two years of confinement. This year, the Festival is planning one of its biggest events with multiple screenings scheduled in its hometown of Melbourne, Australia, as well as other cities around the world.

Operating in streaming and on-site screenings, Byzanfest is the largest Orthodox Christian film festival. The main objectives of the Festival are to share Orthodox faith, stories and culture, as well as to promote Orthodox-inspired cinema.

Byzanfest is also proud to once again have Saint Katherine’s University as its main sponsor. Their support is invaluable in helping to share Orthodox cinema with global audiences.

Saint Katherine’s University generously supports the Best Short Film and Best Feature Film award categories, each cash prize of 500 USD. Other prizes include icons and spiritual items.

Each successfully selected filmmaker will have the opportunity to participate in several exclusive ZOOM networking sessions with other Orthodox filmmakers. The aim is to connect filmmakers to established international networks and encourage the production of more orthodox cinema.

Established in 2014, Byzanfest aims to promote Orthodox Christian filmmakers to a global audience. The event was initiated by Transfigure Media, which is coordinated by Chris Vlahonasios from Melbourne, Australia.

Many Romanian films entered the competition and even won prizes.
