Sam Hunt cancels appearance at Boots and Hearts festival


Sam Hunt has pulled out of his scheduled headlining performance at the upcoming Boots and Hearts festival in Canada. The country singer broke the news online Thursday (July 28), citing “ongoing government restrictions” as the reason he won’t be performing.

Boots and Hearts Festival 2022 runs from August 4-7. Hunt was set to headline the festival – which bills itself as Canada’s largest country music camping festival – on Friday August 5, topping a daily lineup that also includes Dustin Lynch, Morgan Evans and more .

Hunt took to social media on Thursday to share a statement which read: “Unfortunately, due to ongoing government restrictions, Sam Hunt will not be able to perform at Boots & Hearts Music Festival on August 5th. We were hoping that these restrictions would be lifted as the date got closer, but it’s now clear that won’t happen Boots & Hearts Music Festival got a great replacement, and we all hope you can continue to have a great weekend -end at Burl’s Creek.

According to the festival’s social media accounts, Jake Owen will now headline Friday night. Florida Georgia Line is set to headline Saturday August 6th and Shania Twain will headline the final night of the festival on Sunday August 7th.

Hunt has had a busy — and tumultuous — year in 2022, both personally and professionally.

Hunt and his wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Lucy, earlier this year. He shared the news onstage during a performance at the Stars for Second Harvest benefit concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on June 7. entertainment tonight, Hunt addressed the fans in attendance, sharing the news in public for the first time.

“I recently had a baby girl named Lucy Lu,” Hunt shared to applause, adding, “I think being here, in the music business and on the road, has kind of toughened it up. my heart. My heart is definitely a lot harder in so many ways since I left this small town. It’s amazing how this little girl just melted away overnight a few weeks ago.”

The joyful news came after Fowler filed for divorce in February 2022. The court filing revealed Fowler was pregnant and she was due to give birth in May. In her divorce papers, Fowler alleged that Hunt was “guilty of improper marital conduct” and “guilty of adultery.”

Hours after filing the initial complaint, Fowler withdrew his suit, only to file again — this time, in another Nashville-area county — the next day. The filing came after five years of marriage.

In another unexpected development, Fowler called off the divorce in May 2022.

Musically, Hunt released a new single titled “Water Under the Bridge” in June, which finds him upbeat again after a defiant period.
