The Cairo International Film Festival opens registration for the 44th edition – Film – Arts and Culture

“The festival seeks to attract a diversity of films that represent different cinematic movements and to explore inspiring new experiences from around the world,” said outgoing CIFF President, evergreen Egyptian star Hussein Fahmy.

Previously president of CIFF from 1998 to 2001, the multi-award-winning actor has appeared in more than 125 films as well as dozens of television series, radio series and plays.

Fahmy succeeds producer and screenwriter Mohamed Hefzy, who led the festival for four consecutive years.

CIFF director Amir Ramses praised Hefzy’s team, with many members retaining their responsibilities, including Andrew Mohsen as director of programming and Ossama Abdel-Fattah as director of Critics Weeks.

Additionally, Youssef Hesham was unveiled as the new director of the shorts program alongside his initial task as programmer for North and South America. Rasha Hosny is the programmer for Asia and Magy Morgan for Eastern Europe.

“The management has made all the necessary arrangements for the new call for applications on the festival websitesaid Ramses.

One of the oldest and most prestigious festivals in the Arab world and Africa, CIFF takes place this year in the Egyptian capital from November 13 to 22.
