Thomasville Rose Show and Festival Celebrates 101 Years

THOMAVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) – Preparation for the 101st Rose Show and Festival can be seen throughout downtown Thomasville as local businesses gear up for the weekend.

It’s a special time of year known to draw over 30,000 people to the City of Roses in two days. With special offers and displays for the Rose Festival, a downtown employee says she is delighted to see the economic boom in the events.

“I just started working here at His Daughter Boutique a few months ago, so the anticipation is killing me,” said Morgan Caldwell, Marketing Manager.

Caldwell says the store typically sees an influx of traffic on weekends, but with thousands of visitors expected to pass through downtown, she shared that the store has increased its staff.

“We usually have two sales associates working every weekend, but I know we have at least four working that weekend, so if that’s saying anything, we’re definitely expecting double the amount we have. usually,” she said.

Thomasville Director of Tourism and Special Events Madison Eaton says the Rose Festival is a great way to mark spring.

“Even if it’s only two days, it takes months of planning, weeks of preparation and it takes the whole team from the city of Thomasville to put this event together,” she said.

She shared that while visitors will be able to enjoy the traditional rose show and parade, there are a few new traditions to look forward to this year.

“We form the parade of rosebuds and roses into one large parade on Friday evening. We will have the Rose Festival Market during the day on Saturday at the Ritz Amphitheater and we will also have the Rose Festival finale ending the weekend with fireworks at 9pm on Saturday evening. eaton

The festival officially kicks off on Friday April 22 and runs until Saturday April 23.
